Gouripur (Mymensingh): It was mournful August 15. The whole nation lament in this day in order to commemorate the loss of the father of the nation- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman – who is revered as the main architect and visionary of an independent Bangladesh. On this day, in 1975, perpetrators including some aberrant members of the Bangladesh armed forces seized control of his residence in Dhanmondi 32 and killing him with his entire family.

His demise marks the beginning of a dark era that ensued for several decades in the country.

The nation lost its soul and the emergence of the Bengali nation as a powerhouse of the world was put on hold for indefinite period.

To observe the 43rd death anniversary of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Parishad of Gouripur Upazila unit consisting of convener, aspiring candidates vying for MP nomination Krishibid Dr. Shameul Alam Liton; and other grassroots leaders and workers flocked to Bangabandhu Chattar in the town of Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh district at 11.10 am in the morning, they paid homage by placing a flowery garland in the pedestal of Bangabandhu’s mural.
On the occasion, Bangabandhu Parishad of Gouripur Upazila unit also arranged milad and doa mahfils and a discussion on the life and accomplishments of Bangabandhu at Dhan Mahal of this town. One of aspiring candidates vying for nominations of the 11th parliamentary election which are about 3 or 4 months away, central leader and Ex VP of  Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Krishibid Dr. Shameul Alam Liton attended the meeting as chief guest. The grassroots leaders of the party attended the meeting
