National Mourning Day observed in Gouripur

Gouripur(Mymensingh): The National Mourning Day and the 43rd anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed with befitting manner on  August 15 (Wednesday) in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district.

Apart from the ruling Awami League (AL) Gouripur upazila unit and its front and associated bodies, different political, socio-cultural and educational organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day with due respect and wide community participation.

Discussions, milad and doa mahfils were arranged in different places of 10 unions and Pourashava.

About 12 AL aspirants who are trying to get the party nomination for next MP election were seen busy to inaugurate respective programmes.

Freedom Fighter Alhajj Nazim Uddin Ahmed, MP, inaugurated some programmes of different places. Besides, leaders of the ruling party and its associate bodies placed wreaths at Bangabandhu Chattar in the town of Gouripur.

Besides a mourning rally and discussion was held at Gouripur Upazila Parishad  at 10:30 am. Students of different institutions like Gouripur R.K.Govt. High School, Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Agradut Niketon Adarsha High School, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute, Islamabad Senior Madrasha and primary schools joined the rally. This rally was attended by Freedom Fighter Alhajj Nazim Uddin Ahmed, MP, while UNO of this upazila Farhana Karim presided over the programme.

Discussion, milad and doa mahfils were also held separately at different institutions

On the occasion Jatiyo Shramik League of  Gouripur upazila unit  organized a discussion, milad and doa mahfils at Golakpur of this upazila. Freedom Fighter Alhajj Nazim Uddin Ahmed, MP attended the meeting as chief guest
