Gouripur (Mymensingh): The holy Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth and death anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him), was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district on Tuesday with due religious fervour and solemnity.
On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal of the Hijri calendar, Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) as the last Prophet of Islam was born in Makkah in Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind.
He also passed away on the same day in 632 AD. Comprehensive arrangements were made to observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi on Tuesday.
Mosques and religious institutions in this upazila were illuminated to mark the occasion with religious fervour.
Various organisations in this upazila held discussions, milad and doa mahfils highlighting the life of the Prophet.
On this occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-nabi, special diets were provided to all hospitals, prisons, old homes, government child welfare and different rehabilitation centres.
Milad processions were taken out in various parts of this upazila.
Meanwhile, police personnel have been deployed to ensure peace and religious harmony on the occasion.
