Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in Gouripur

Gouripur (Mymensingh): The holy Eid-al-Fitr, the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal and the first largest religious festival of the Muslim Ummah, was celebrated with solemnity across  Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district on Saturday, June 5, 2019.

It marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer.

Many Muslims attend communal prayers,listen to a khutba (sermon) and give zakat al-fitr (charity in the form of food) during Eid-al-Fitr.

Meanwhile, many people from different places came to their village homes to celebrate the festival with their near endear ones.

The stage was almost set for smooth holding of Eid prayers in the town of Gouripur and elsewhere.

The main Eid congregation was held at Khelar Mathh Eidgah Maidan near the Gouripur Stadium around 9:30AM and the second largest congregation in the town was held at Islamabad Madrasha's playing ground at 9.40AM being looked after by Gouripur Pourashava.

Meanwhile, many people from different places came to their village homes to celebrate the festival with their near endear ones.

Important public houses, thoroughfares and road sides of the town were decorated with national flags, gates and banners inscribed with 'Eid Mubarak’.
 
However, on Tuesday morning about 2 hundred Muslims who are followers to the Sureshuri Mazar at Shariatpur, celebrated their Eid under the leadership of Pir Syed Shahnur Abtab Parvez Nuri at village Bahadurpur of this upazila.#
