National Mourning Day observed in Gouripur

Gouripur(Mymensingh): The National Mourning Day and the 44th anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed with befitting manner on  August 15 (Thursday) in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district.

Apart from the ruling Awami League (AL) Gouripur upazila unit and its front and associated bodies, different political, socio-cultural and educational organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day with due respect and wide community participation.

Discussions, milad and doa mahfils were arranged in different places of 10 unions and Pourashava. Leaders of the ruling party and its associate bodies placed wreaths at Bangabandhu Chattar in the town of Gouripur.

Besides a mourning rally and discussion was held at Gouripur Upazila Parishad  at 10:30 am. Students of different institutions like Gouripur R.K.Govt. High School, Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Agradut Niketon Adarsha High School, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute, Islamabad Senior Madrasha and primary schools joined the rally.

This rally was attended by Freedom Fighter Alhajj Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP as chief guest, Upazila Chaiman Md Mofazzal Hossain Khan, UNO Farhana Karim and other prominent persons were present.

Afterwards, a discussion was held at Upazila Public Hall with Farhana Karim, UNO of  Gouripur upazila  in the chair, while Freedom Fighter Alhaj Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP as chief guest, Upazila Chaiman Md Mofazzal Hossain Khan as special guest  and  other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience.

Discussion, milad and doa mahfils were also held separately at different institutions.
