Gouripur (Mymensingh): The National Voters Day -2020 was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh disrtict in a befitting manner with a call to encourage the common people to cast votes for strengthening democracy on Monday morning (2nd March, 2020).
Marking the day, 10 people including a transgender were given new National Identity (NID) cards aimed at ensuring their basic rights.
‘Cast vote after being voter, take part in building nation’ was the main theme of the day.
Upazila Election Office and Upazila Administration jointly organized the programe as a part of the countrywide program. In this connection a colorful rally led by Sejuti Dhar, UNO of Gouripur upazila was brought out from UNO office premises and terminated at the same place after parading the main roads of the town.
Later a discussion meeting was held at Zora Amtala Chottar of Upazila Parishad where UNO of Gouripur upazila Sejuti Dhar presided over the function. Chairman of Gouripur Upazila Parishad Md. Mofazzal Hossain Khan, Upazila Election Officer Sajal Kumar Sarkar, Upazila Youth Development Officer Nandan Kumar Biswas, Upazila Education Officer Monika Parvin, Upazila Project Impliment Officer Sohel Rana Pappu, Upazila AL Senor President Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Ex- Deputy Comander of Gouripur Muktijudda Sangsad Abdur Rahim spoke on the occasion and other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience by focusing on most important point of voting issue.
