Gouripur (Mymensingh): The National Disaster Preparedness Day -2020 was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh disrtict in a befitting manner with a call to prepare the people to fight disasters on Tuesday (10th March, 2020).
Disaster preparedness refers to the preventive measures taken to reduce the severity of a disaster’s effects. The goal of disaster preparedness is to lessen the impact of disasters on vulnerable populations.
Upazila Disaster Management and Relief Office and Upazila Administration jointly organized the programe as a part of the countrywide program.
In this connection a colorful rally led by Sejuti Dhar, UNO of Gouripur upazila was brought out from UNO office premises and terminated at the same place after parading the main roads of the town.
UP chairmen and members, PIO office staff, officers, employees, farmers, teachers, students and prominent persons took part in the rally.
Later a discussion meeting was held at Zora Amtala Chottar of Upazila Parishad where UNO of Gouripur upazila Sejuti Dhar presided over the function. Chairman of Gouripur Upazila Parishad Md. Mofazzal Hossain Khan, Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Sohel Rana Pappu, President of Gouripur Sangbadik Ukkay Forum Bag Faruk Ahmed, Ex- Deputy Comander of Gouripur Muktijudda Sangsad Abdur Rahim spoke on the occasion and other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience by focusing on most important point of disaster preparedness issue.
