World Tourism Day observed in Gouripur

Gouripur (Mymensingh): The World Tourism Day was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district in a befitting manner on Sunday aiming to raise awareness among the people about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values.

Marking the day, Creative Association, ACECC Association, The Electoral Committee for Birangana Sakhina Silver Pen Award and other organisations chalked out various programmes, including a human chain, rally and discussion meetings.

The theme of World Tourism Day 2020 is ‘Tourism and Rural Development’, as tourism is a leading provider of employment and opportunities in the countless rural communities around the world. 

A human chain was held on the bank of historical large pond known as Chimu Rani Dighi at the village Singronda of this upazila around 4 pm for emphasizing the need of upgrading Gouripur upazila into a tourism attraction.

Former President of  Gouripur Reporters’ Club Mohsin Mohmud Shah, General Secretary of Gouripur Reporters’ Club Jahirul Huda Liton, Assist. Prof. Mosharaf Hossain Sohel, General Sercatary of Creative Association Raihan Uddin Sarker, journalist  Rakibul Islam Rakib among others, spoke highlighting the importance of the day.
