Bangabandhu’s birth centenary and the National Children's Day observed in Gouripur

Gouripur (Mymensingh): The birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day was observed in a befitting manner on Wednesday in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district. The beginning of the day started with a 100-gun salute soon after the sun rises
Apart from the ruling Awami League (AL) Gouripur upazila unit and its front and associated bodies, different political, socio-cultural and educational organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Day, which is also the National Children Day, with due respect and in festive mood.
The Father of the Nation was assassinated along with most of his family members on the fateful night on August 15, 1975 when he was only 55 years old.
Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP, Upazila Chairman Mofazzal Hossain khan, Hasan Maruf ,UNO of Gouripur Upazila , Gouripur municipality Mayor Syed Rafiqul Islam , District AL Organizing Sectrary Shamiul Alam Liton, councilors of Gouripur Pourashava , other officials of the upazila administration , the police department, representatives of public, heads of schools, colleges, madrasas, and representatives of socio cultural organizations paid wreaths on the portrait of Bangabandhu respectively
on at Bangabandhu Chattar of the upazila town around 10:00 am
Afterwards, a discussion and prize-giving ceremony was held at Upazila Public Hall with Hasan Maruf, UNO of Gouripur upazila in the chair while Freedom Fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP was present as chief guest and upazila chairman Md. Mufazzal Hossain Khan other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience
Besides, from morning to evening different associate organizations of the party, including Awami Jubo League, Mohila Awami League, Krishak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Sramik League and various other socio-cultural bodies also chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day
Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Gouripur Muncipality, Borsha Samajik Unnayon Sangsta arranged separate programmes to mark the day.
